A caramel apple slice bar is the easiest party dessert of the fall, and kids and grown-ups love it. Jars of caramel and chocolate sit in warm water in a slow cooker so they stay smooth all evening. Apples are cut into thick wedges with a stick in each, and little bowls of toppings let everyone build their own. There is no stove to watch and almost no cleanup.

How to Make Caramel Apple Slice Bar

  1. Pour 2 inches of warm water into a slow cooker and set it to warm or low.
  2. Spoon the caramel and the melted chocolates into heat-safe mason jars and stand the jars in the water.
  3. Cut each apple into 6 to 8 thick wedges and dip them in the lemon water so they don’t brown. Pat them very dry.
  4. Push a stick into the skin side of each wedge.
  5. Set the toppings out in a muffin tin or small bowls.
  6. Let everyone dip a slice in caramel or chocolate, then roll it in toppings and set it on parchment.

Tips

  • Dry the apples well. Caramel won’t stick to wet fruit.
  • Stir the jars every 30 minutes.
  • Chill the dipped slices for 10 minutes if you want the coating to set.

Serving and Storing

Cut the apples just before serving. Dipped slices keep in the fridge for one day.
