Ingredients
  

  • 1 can buttermilk flaky biscuits such as Pillsbury Grands or store brand pop-tube biscuits
  • bulk breakfast sausage mild pork sausage, spicy sausage, or turkey sausage
  • shredded sharp cheddar cheese use a small pinch for each biscuit so they do not burst open

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until browned and crumbly, then drain the grease.
  • Flatten each biscuit slightly with your hands, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  • Spoon some cooked sausage into the center of each biscuit and top it with a pinch of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Fold the biscuit edges up around the filling and pinch them closed, then place each biscuit seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown and puffy.
  • Let the sausage biscuits cool for a few minutes before serving, since the sausage filling will be very hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To freeze, wrap biscuits individually and place them in a zip-top bag for up to 2 months. Reheat in the microwave for 30 to 40 seconds wrapped in a damp paper towel, or warm in a 300°F oven until heated through.
