steak seasoning
such as Montreal seasoning

butter

green bell pepper

all-purpose flour

tbsp
brown sugar

tbsp
Worcestershire sauce

packets
brown gravy mix
1 oz each, divided

water
Instructions
Season both sides of the steak with smoked paprika, onion powder, and steak seasoning.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and quickly sear steaks for about 2 minutes per side until browned.
Transfer steaks to the bottom of the slow cooker.
In the same skillet, melt butter and cook onion and bell pepper until softened. Stir in garlic and flour and cook for 1 minute.
Pour vegetable mixture over the steak in the slow cooker.
Whisk together 1 packet of gravy mix, water, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Pour over the steak.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 4 hours until steak is tender.
Carefully remove steak. Whisk remaining gravy mix into the slow cooker liquid until thickened, then return steak to the gravy.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
Chuck steak becomes especially tender with low-and-slow cooking. Add mushrooms for even richer gravy flavor.
