Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

This easy slow cooker pulled pork is fall-apart tender, full of smoky flavor, and smothered in your favorite barbecue sauce. Perfect for feeding a crowd at backyard parties, potlucks, or cozy family dinners.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pork shoulder or pork butt 4–5 pounds
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce plus more for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, coating it evenly.
  • Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker and pour the chicken broth around it.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours, or until the pork is tender and pulls apart easily with a fork.
  • Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
  • Stir in 1 cup of barbecue sauce and mix well to coat the pork.
  • Serve the pulled pork on buns with extra barbecue sauce on the side.

Notes

For a little heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the spice rub. This pulled pork is wonderful on sandwiches, nachos, or even in tacos.
