This slow cooker potato and onion bake is simple, rustic comfort at its best. Thin layers of potatoes and onions melt together with butter into a tender, lightly caramelized dish with golden edges and rich flavor—no cream, no fuss, just honest cooking.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp salted butter melted
  • 2 lb potatoes russet or Yukon Gold, thinly sliced
  • 2 yellow onions thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper optional, to taste

Instructions
 

  • Grease the inside of the slow cooker with a small amount of melted butter.
  • Layer sliced potatoes on the bottom, slightly overlapping.
  • Scatter a layer of onions over the potatoes.
  • Drizzle with butter and season lightly if desired.
  • Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with butter on top.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  • Let rest uncovered for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Scoop through all layers and spoon buttery juices over each serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add garlic, herbs, or a sprinkle of cheese between layers. Avoid stirring before serving to preserve the layered texture.
