Ingredients

  • 1 medium green cabbage outer leaves removed and core trimmed slightly
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese plus more for serving if desired
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Cut a deep X into the core end of the cabbage to help it cook evenly.
  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the cabbage into the slow cooker. Pour the garlic butter mixture over the top, letting it seep into the cuts.
  • Cover and cook on high for 4 hours, or until the cabbage is very tender.
  • Carefully remove the cabbage and place it on a serving dish. Sprinkle with Parmesan and parsley before serving.

Notes

Try adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a mild kick or swap Parmesan for Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
