Ingredients
1lbziti pastauncooked
1lbground beefor Italian sausage, cooked and drained
1jar24 oz marinara sauce
1cupricotta cheese
2cupsshredded mozzarella cheesedivided
1/2cupgrated Parmesan cheese
1tspItalian seasoning
1/2tspsaltor to taste
1/4tspblack pepper
1cupwater
Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat and set aside.
Spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine cooked beef, marinara sauce, water, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Layer half the uncooked ziti in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add half the meat sauce mixture, then dollop half the ricotta over it. Sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella and 1/4 cup Parmesan.
Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or until pasta is tender and cheese is melted.
Turn off the slow cooker and let the ziti rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, omit the meat and add sautéed mushrooms, zucchini, or spinach to the sauce.
