Slow Cooker Amish Cabbage Noodles

This simple, buttery cabbage noodle dish is pure comfort food. Tender ribbons of cabbage cook down with egg noodles and plenty of butter, creating a rich, peppery side that feels rustic, cozy, and deeply satisfying.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium green cabbage sliced into ribbons
  • 12 oz egg noodles wide, uncooked
  • 1 cup salted butter melted
  • 2 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Instructions
 

  • Prepare cabbage by removing outer leaves, coring, and slicing into thin ribbons.
  • Lightly grease the slow cooker with butter.
  • Layer half the cabbage in the slow cooker.
  • Add half the egg noodles over the cabbage.
  • Drizzle half the melted butter and sprinkle half the pepper.
  • Repeat layers with remaining cabbage, noodles, butter, and pepper.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 2.5–3 hours or LOW for 4–5 hours without opening the lid initially.
  • After initial cooking, gently toss ingredients together.
  • Continue cooking if needed until noodles are tender and cabbage is soft.
  • Serve warm, scooping from the bottom for the richest flavor.

Notes

Avoid lifting the lid early to retain steam for proper cooking. Add extra butter or pepper to taste before serving.
