This sweet and tangy Amish-style BBQ chicken is easy to make in the slow cooker and full of homestyle flavor. Perfect for sandwiches, wraps, or served over rice.
Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
In a bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts, making sure they are well coated.
Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks and mix it well with the sauce in the slow cooker.
Serve hot with your choice of sides.
Notes
Serve this shredded BBQ chicken on sandwich buns, with coleslaw on the side, or over creamy mashed potatoes. Leftovers reheat beautifully and can even be frozen for later meals.
