Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 12 oz beer room temperature
  • 2 tbsp salted butter melted, for brushing

Instructions

  • Line the slow cooker with parchment paper, allowing extra paper to hang over the sides for easy lifting.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together self-rising flour and sugar.
  • Pour in room-temperature beer and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; batter should remain thick and shaggy.
  • Transfer batter into the prepared slow cooker and spread evenly.
  • Place a clean kitchen towel over the slow cooker before adding the lid to absorb condensation.
  • Cook on HIGH for 2 to 2½ hours, checking for doneness with a toothpick inserted into the center.
  • Lift bread out using parchment paper and immediately brush the top with melted butter.
  • Allow bread to rest 15–20 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use a lighter beer for mild flavor or a darker ale for richer taste. Delicious served warm with soup, chili, or honey butter.
