  • 2 cups butter softened

  • 4 cups walnuts chopped finely
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  • Cream softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Mix in vanilla extract. Add flour and salt, mixing until dough comes together.
  • Fold in chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.
  • Chill dough for about 1 hour for easier shaping, if desired.
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheets with slight spacing.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until bottoms are lightly golden while tops remain pale.
  • Cool slightly while still warm, then gently roll cookies in powdered sugar.
  • Once fully cooled, roll cookies a second time in powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Pecans can be substituted for walnuts. Store in an airtight container for several days to maintain texture.
