Ingredients

  • 12 oz wide or medium egg noodles
  • 1 cup salted butter melted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced, or about 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese divided

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch metal baking pan.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook the egg noodles until just al dente, slightly under the package timing.
  • While the noodles cook, melt the butter and stir in the minced garlic.
  • Let the garlic sit in the warm butter for about 1 minute to soften.
  • Drain the noodles well and return them to the warm pot.
  • Pour the garlic butter over the noodles and toss until evenly coated.
  • Add 1 cup of the grated Parmesan and toss again.
  • Transfer the noodles to the prepared baking pan and spread them evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan over the top.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the top is melted and beginning to turn golden and the noodle edges are lightly crisp.
  • If desired, broil for 1–2 minutes for extra browning, watching closely.
  • Let the noodles rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pull the noodles just shy of fully cooked so they do not become mushy in the oven. Watch closely if broiling, as the cheese browns quickly.
