Oven Baked 4-Ingredient Beef Tater Tot Bites
Oven Baked 4-Ingredient Beef Tater Tot Bites are crisp tater tots topped with taco-seasoned ground beef and melty cheddar for an easy sheet pan appetizer. Hot, cheesy, salty, and perfect for sharing, they come together with just four ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 bag frozen tater tots 32 ounces
- 1 pound ground beef whatever kind you normally buy is fine
- 1 packet taco seasoning 1 ounce
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese sharp cheddar preferred, or regular cheddar
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 425°F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil for easier cleanup.
- Spread the frozen tater tots out in a single layer on the foil-lined pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until hot and beginning to turn crisp and golden.
- While the tots bake, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon until fully cooked and fairly crumbly.
- Drain off the extra grease from the browned beef.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and cook with the beef for 1 to 2 minutes, just until the meat is coated and smells taco-ish.
- Pull the baking sheet out of the oven, spoon the seasoned beef evenly over the tater tots, and sprinkle the shredded cheddar all over the top.
- Return the pan to the oven for 5 to 7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and everything is hot and crisp around the edges.
- Serve right away while the tots are still crunchy and the cheese is stretchy, with sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, or green onions on the side if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for a couple of days. Reheat by spreading them on a baking sheet and warming in a 425°F oven until heated through and the edges crisp up a little; the microwave works in a pinch, but the tots will soften.
