Oven Baked 4-Ingredient Amish Beef and Worcestershire Bake

The Rainy Amish Beef and Worcestershire Bake is a cozy one-dish dinner made with tender top sirloin, condensed cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce. It bakes under tightly sealed foil until the beef is tender and the savory mushroom-onion sauce is ready to spoon over potatoes, noodles, rice, or toast.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds beef top sirloin steak whatever looks good and fits comfortably in your dish
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup 10.5 ounces, condensed, not ready-to-eat
  • 1 packet onion soup mix about 1 ounce, dry packet
  • 1/4 cup bottled Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a light swipe of oil.
  • Lay the top sirloin steak in the prepared baking dish in as even a layer as possible; if the steak is in a couple of pieces, that is fine.
  • Spoon the entire can of condensed cream of mushroom soup over the steak and spread it around as best you can, knowing it will loosen as it bakes.
  • Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix evenly over the cream of mushroom soup and steak.
  • Drizzle the Worcestershire sauce evenly over everything, letting any extra collect around the edges of the dish to become part of the pan juices.
  • Cover the baking dish tightly with foil, crimping it around the edges so the moisture stays in with the beef.
  • Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, until the steak is tender and cooked to your liking; if the pieces are especially thick, check near the end and bake a few extra minutes if needed.
  • Let the dish rest for about 10 minutes, then slice or serve the beef with the savory mushroom-onion sauce spooned over each portion, ideally over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, rice, or toast.

Notes

Store leftovers covered tightly in the refrigerator for about 3 days, keeping the beef in its sauce so it does not dry out. Reheat gently in a covered baking dish at a moderate oven temperature until hot, or microwave in short bursts; add a spoonful of water only if the sauce seems unusually thick.
