Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or tenders
  • 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup undiluted
  • 2 cups fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter 1 stick

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Arrange the chicken in a single layer in the prepared dish.
  • Slice any very thick chicken pieces in half lengthwise so everything cooks evenly.
  • Spoon the condensed cream of chicken soup over the chicken.
  • Spread the soup gently so the chicken is evenly covered.
  • In a bowl, mix the fine dry bread crumbs with the melted butter until fully coated.
  • Sprinkle the buttered bread crumbs evenly over the soup layer, covering the dish edge to edge.
  • Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the topping is deeply golden.
  • Check that the thickest chicken piece reaches 165°F internally.
  • Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep the chicken in an even layer for consistent cooking. If the topping looks pale, bake a few extra minutes until golden and crisp.
