  • 1 box orange gelatin mix 3 oz
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix 3.4 oz
  • 2 tsp fresh orange zest from about 1 medium orange
  • 1 tub frozen whipped topping 8 oz, thawed

  • orange slices optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Place the orange gelatin mix in a large bowl and add the boiling water.
  • Whisk until every gelatin crystal has completely dissolved.
  • Stir in the cold water.
  • Refrigerate for about 12 minutes, until cooled and just beginning to thicken but not set.
  • Remove the bowl from the refrigerator and whisk in the dry vanilla pudding mix until smooth.
  • Refrigerate for another 15 minutes.
  • Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping and fresh orange zest until evenly combined and fluffy.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
  • Spoon into serving dishes and garnish with whipped cream and orange slices if desired.

Notes

Do not let the gelatin set completely before adding the pudding mix. For the lightest texture, fold in the whipped topping gently.
