Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium apples peeled, cored and sliced (6 to 7 cups)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour for the topping
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon for the topping
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter cubed

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  • Toss the sliced apples with the sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and 1 tablespoon flour. Spread in the dish.
  • Mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Rub in the cold butter until clumpy crumbs form.
  • Scatter the topping over the apples and bake 45 to 50 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
  • Cool 10 to 15 minutes and serve warm with ice cream.

Notes

Keeps 4 days in the fridge. Reheat at 350°F for 15 minutes to re-crisp the topping.
