Ingredients

  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips one standard bag
  • 1 1/4 cups walnuts chopped, but not too finely
  • 3 cups crushed Ruffles potato chips measured after crushing, with some larger craggy bits left for crunch

Instructions

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside before melting the chocolate.
  • Place the chocolate chips in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring well between each round, until fully melted and smooth.
  • Add the chopped walnuts and crushed Ruffles potato chips to the melted chocolate.
  • Stir until the walnuts and potato chip pieces are evenly coated and tucked throughout the chocolate with no dry pieces sitting on top.
  • Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes so it holds a mounded shape instead of spreading into flat puddles.
  • Use a small cookie scoop or two spoons to drop the mixture into small bite-sized mounds on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Let the candies cool completely until firm, about 1 hour, or a little longer if your kitchen is warm.

Notes

Store Idaho Janes in an airtight container or sealed bag once fully cool. Keep them at room temperature if your kitchen is not too warm, or refrigerate in warm weather so the chocolate stays firm. If refrigerated, let them sit out for a few minutes before eating. Do not microwave softened candies; chill them until firm again.
