4cupsrusset potatoespeeled and thinly sliced
2cupscooked hamdiced
2tbspunsalted butter
2tbspall-purpose flour
2cupsmilkpreferably whole milk
1 1/2cupscheddar cheeseshredded
1/2tspsaltor to taste

1/4tspgarlic powder
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until sauce thickens. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Stir until smooth and melted.
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish. Top with half the diced ham and pour half the cheese sauce over. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of cheese on top and cover dish with foil.
Bake covered for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
