Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan with nonstick spray.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.
  • Add flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda to the bowl and stir just until combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  • Cool for 15 minutes, then cut into 16 bars. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

These chewy bars are best enjoyed warm, but they also store well in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
