  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 tbsp butter cut into small pieces
  • 1 pie crust store-bought or homemade, rolled out to fit a 9-inch dish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish or pie pan.
  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  • Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared dish and dot with butter.

For deeper flavor, add a splash of apple cider or a pinch of cloves to the filling.
