Ingredients

  • 28 to 32 oz frozen crinkle-cut french fries do not thaw
  • 1 can condensed cream of onion soup 10.5 oz
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix 1 oz

Instructions

  • Lightly spray the inside of the slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • Add the frozen crinkle-cut fries directly to the slow cooker. Do not thaw them.
  • Spread the fries into a somewhat even layer.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of onion soup and dry onion soup mix.
  • Pour the onion soup mixture over the fries and gently spread it around with a spatula.
  • Sprinkle 3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Cover and cook on high for 2–3 hours, or on low for 4–5 hours, until the fries are fork-tender and bubbling around the edges.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Cover again for about 10 minutes, until the cheese melts.
  • Switch to warm for serving and scoop from the bottom to include both saucy fries and crispier edge pieces.

Notes

Use frozen fries straight from the bag for the best texture. Scoop from the bottom and sides to get the flavorful browned edges.
