Ingredients

  • 6 cups broken sugar cones Uncooked and loosely packed, with a mixture of larger chunks and crumbs
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk Regular full-fat sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 as needed butter or nonstick cooking spray For greasing the slow cooker insert

Instructions

  • Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker with butter or nonstick spray.
  • Pour the broken sugar cones into the bottom of the slow cooker and spread them into a fairly even layer.
  • In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, whisk the sweetened condensed milk and melted butter together until smooth.
  • Slowly pour the condensed milk mixture all over the broken sugar cones, trying to cover as much of the surface as possible.
  • Use the back of a spoon or a spatula to gently press the cone pieces down into the sweet mixture so they are lightly moistened, but do not stir everything into a paste.
  • Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, until the edges are golden and set and the center is soft and gooey but not runny.
  • Switch the slow cooker to WARM and let the dessert rest for 10 to 15 minutes so it can thicken enough for scooping.
  • Scoop the warm sugar cone dessert into bowls and serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or fresh berries if desired.

Notes

Transfer leftovers to a shallow container and refrigerate within 2 hours. The dessert keeps for a couple of days, though the crunchy pieces soften overnight. Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds at a time until warm. Discard the dessert if it has been at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
