3-Ingredient Oven Baked Summer Dessert
This 3-Ingredient Oven Baked Summer Dessert is a golden, buttery peach dump cake with jammy peach filling underneath and a crisp yellow cake mix topping. It layers right in a 9-by-13-inch dish with no stirring required.
Ingredients
- 2 sticks salted butter solid and unwrapped
- 1 box yellow cake mix about 15.25 ounces, kept dry
- 2 cans peach pie filling 21 ounces each; use regular pie filling, not plain canned peaches
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F, place the two unwrapped sticks of salted butter in a 9-by-13-inch oven-safe casserole dish, and heat in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, just until melted.
- Carefully remove the casserole dish from the oven, keeping in mind that the melted butter will be hot and sloshy.
- Spoon both cans of peach pie filling evenly over the melted butter and gently spread the peaches into a mostly even layer across the bottom of the dish.
- Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the peach filling, covering the surface as completely as possible, but do not stir.
- If you notice a large dry patch of cake mix, gently tilt the pan just enough to help some of the melted butter reach it without mixing the layers.
- Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until the top is deeply golden and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges, checking around 45 minutes if your oven runs hot.
- Let the dump cake rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving warm, with vanilla ice cream, lightly sweetened whipped cream, plain Greek yogurt, or cold milk if desired.
Notes
Cover any leftovers and refrigerate for 3 to 4 days. The topping will soften in the fridge; reheat individual servings in the microwave until warmed through, or use a low oven to bring back a bit more crispness on top. Do not add ice cream to the entire pan unless you plan to finish it.
