Ingredients

  • 1 box lemon cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 can lemon pie filling 21 oz

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the dry lemon cake mix and melted butter until the mixture looks like damp, clumpy sand.
  • Press about two-thirds of the crumb mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, making sure to cover the corners and edges.
  • Spoon the lemon pie filling over the crust.
  • Gently spread the filling to the edges without pressing too hard into the crust.
  • Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture loosely over the top.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the topping is lightly golden and the edges are bubbling.
  • Let the bars cool in the dish for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Chill the bars after cooling for cleaner slices. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a simple bakery-style finish.
